Alienware not running Games like it should

My friend just got a 2011 Alienware M11X with an Intel Core 2 Duo and 6GB (He's upgraded to 8GB) RAM and a 500GB HDD. It came with a clean install of Windows 7 and we've updated all the drivers we could think of to get it into tip-top shape. However, games are still running pretty slow/choppy; even Left 4 Dead which many people have used to benchmark it and say that it runs awesome. Any ideas on what it may be?

2011 version of that laptop should have at least a second gen core CPU, not a Core2Duo. It seems you have an earlier version. '09 or early '10.

UPDATE: His Core2Duo is running at 1.3 (DC) and his GPU is Nvidia GeForce GT 335M
