Mostly for gaming and university reports :)

Not to reopen old wounds, but the i3 you describe will provide far better performance in terms of raw CPU power.

However, that AMD Acer you posted has a dedicated GPU. In games that are GPU-intensive, the Acer would be far better.
It seems like you want to do gaming, so that would be the one to go for.
However, for CPU-intensive games such as CS:GO, the i3 would be, by far, the better option.

The i3 would also give a far better battery life. That Acer probably has very poor battery life due to the dedicated GPU+inefficient CPU.

As a matter of fact the i3 should be better than even a top-model A10, such as the A10-5750m , at least in single-core performance. In multi-threaded applications the A10 would be superior.

Regarding the AMD A10-5750 vs. i5-5200 the i5 is most definitely superior in all aspects of CPU performance. Even GPU performance should be similar given that the HD 5500 gets 2 sticks o' RAM.
