And a8 vs Intel core i5

Solution
Will you ever want to upgrade???

You buy a APU for the excellent integrated graphics.
But, there are no real good upgrades, particularly for a gamer.
If you install a superior discrete graphics card, you will have thrown away the big advantage of the APU.
Then, you are left with a relatively weak cpu. Most games depend on only a few fast cores.

Bottom line.....
What you get with a APU is what you will live with forever.

Intel I5 processors run on motherboards that can handle upgraded processors.

We're gonna need a bit more information about the cpus to make a good decision.
Which models they are?
Is this a laptop in question?
Will there be a discrete gpu on either of them?

i5 > AMD, *IF* the intel has dedicated graphics. Until Ryzen is out I wouldn't purchase AMD over Intel unless you needed to do so to fit a budget. AMD uses an APU for graphics, I just gave away an old HP laptop of mine with AMD A10 APU and R7 graphics I think, bought an i5 8250 and MX150 and the difference VERY noticeable. I couldn't even play games like CSGO without lag on my HP.
