Android TV Box USB Wifi adapter

I have an Alfawise H96 Pro H2 Stick, but it's internal wifi is awful. It's only 2.4 Ghz and I only get 20Mb down from my router. I'd like to buy a usb wifi adapter that supports 5.8 AC. Would it even recognize it and if it did, would it be able to bypass it's internal wifi and use the external one somehow?

Extremely doubtful,
The USB port is for power and probably nothing else.
There would be no drivers either so there's no way it would know what to do with the wifi adapter.
