Anik E1 Audio Feeds

It's known that all Canadian radio stations pick up their syndicated audio
feeds, such as the Delilah show, from a service called BN (Broadcast News).

It's also known that these BN feeds come from a satellite called Anik E1
located in 109.5 degrees West.

When I went to Lyngsat in order to check Anik E1 there was nothing!

When I checked "BN Satellite" it says: "Satellite details not available"
http://www.sat-address.com/ab/BN-Broadcast-News.shtml

Are BN's satellite feeds top secret or what? I don't think it's the case
since their program schedule is online:

Can these audio feeds be received with a consumer FTA Receiver? Such as the
Fortec Star DVB-786?

One guy that I know who used to work at a radio station told me that they
were using Unity 4000 MPEG-2 IRD to pick up BN audio channels off ANIK E1.
http://www.wegener.com/pdf_files/unity4000.pdf
on Freq: 11815.25 MHz,
FEC: 2/3,
LNB LO: 10750.00
On a fixed dish pointed to Anik E1 (Telesat 11) satellite, he told me.

Can anybody confirm if these news feeds can be received with a regular
FTA-DVB receiver?

There is no Anik E1 to the best of my knowledge. There is Anik F1 @
107.3 and there is Anik E2R @ 111.1 Those feeds are currently on Anik
E2R 11815V Sr 3910 Fec 2/3 and they are currently scrambled. Comes up
on my end using Scientific Atlanta brand encryption. You can not
receive FTA, would need an IRD with permission to access the service.

I forgot to mention that he told me that the Rate is 4804. Would this make a
difference; since you found 3910?

By looking at the receiver which radio affiliates use - the Unity 4000
MPEG-2 IRD - it doesn't take any CAM cards for permission.
http://www.wegener.com/pdf_files/unity4000.pdf

Also, by reading its specs, there's no mention of any encryption/decription
algorithms. How permission may be accessed in such receivers?

Say that one purchases either one of such receivers: The Unity 4000 or like
your Scientific Atlanta, will access to these feeds be possible?

I believe you said your friend used to work at the station. These
feeds move from time to time. There is no feed on that bird with a sr
of 4804 as I just checked. Perhaps when your friend worked there the
feeds were not encrypted but now they are. You need an IRD with a CAM
card that supports Scientific Atlanta brand encryption with access
enabled from them. I use Tsreader to decode the stream and that
stream is clearly encrypted. I also have a 786V3 and that receiver
shows scrambled. The stations have probably upgraded their receivers
and don't use the unity 4000 any more. You may be able to call one of
the stations and ask to speak to the engineer. Explain very politely
what you are trying to do and I'm sure he/she will be able to verify.
As it stands it's encoded and you can not receive with a FTA receiver.
The only other posibility is another feed either on that sat or
another one that is FTA. Most likely not though, I checked a limited
access service on the net and can not find any other feeds from them
on that satellite.
