Well alternative to Kaspersky is Emisoft and Bitdefender.
Emisoft seem to be run by trusted people that hates adware so I expect them to be more aggressive in the detecting adware department. Heck they are the only company that call their anti-virus anti-malware. I'm not sure what it means with compatibility with other antiviruses but it is compatible with Malwarebytes. The company appear to be dedicated in respecting your privacy by tweaking their program to not rely on collecting data with minimum impact on the program effectiveness on protecting you. Emisoft has a solid virus detection rate overall but may ask you if certain files should be quarantine from time to time.
Bitdefender appear to me to have the best solid anti-virus detection but because of the poor reviews of customers having trouble using that program for whatever bugs they are dealing with, I used to recommend users here to stay away from that program but recently the reviews are now in the borderline acceptable range. Bitdefender does have a free version so I do recommend that for valuable detection rate.
Webroot is another alternative that sacrifice protection for making it one of the lightest antivirus out there for those who value computer performance impact.
There is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware premium version that should work best at detecting adware. It what I use to cover Kaspersky weakness. It work with any antivirus out there. On their website their premium cost $25/yr for 3 PC. I recommend getting this instead but if you want to switch antivirus Emisoft Anti-Malware is a good alternative, or you may even use both of them.
Emisoft Anti-Malware for 1 PC for 1 year cost $40 on their website but on HitmanPro website you can get it for the same price plus HitmanPro + Alert program. HitmanPro is a 2nd opinion scanner that has very solid detection rate that you may schedule its scan for weekly to make sure that your main antivirus is doing its job. HitmanPro Alert help against exploit, protect keyloggers, protect against cryptowares, etc. They also offer a package with Bitdefender for $60. Any anti-virus + HitmanPro + Malwaresbytes work fine together. A note though that Kaspersky currently isn't working with HitmanPro Alert so you can't use their 2nd program that comes with HitmanPro.
