Hello,

I'm looking for a laptop that fits these criteria:

- 15", as sadly 14" are not very popular in europe even if I would prefer them
- 1200€ or less
- 2Kg (4.5lbs) maximum weight, and not too thick
- dedicated graphics (940m or 950m is fine, don't really need them for gaming, but for simple Solidworks projects)
- decent battery life
- dual-core processor (intel U) is fine, I don't need a quad-core (intel HQ)
- without optical drive if possible, as all the ones that have one are heavy / thick.
- SSD. If it ships with an HDD I'm gonna put one in myself so it doesn't really matter.

The only laptop I found is this: ASUS K501 http://goo.gl/R5G60N

But people say it has a pretty terrible screen, so I wanted to know if there is something else that fits my criteria but has an IPS screen. That would be amazing.

Thanks for the reply

The dell inspiron is too heavy. I'd like to stay below 2.2kg.

Then you'll have to compromise with the specs. I would like to know why you want an alternative to K501UX. I am asking this because K501UX looks pretty good to me. It has decent specs and also slim form factor.

if weight is your concern, you could go with the lenovo yoga series.. it comes with decent specs, dedicated graphics, a thin form factor and a sub-2kg wieght .. also a FHD display and a dedicated graphics
