Any way to speed up copying files from a damaged hard disk

My hard drive is damaged but I can still boot into Windows and access my files. But it's basically unusable with how sluggish it is. Any way to speed up getting the files to and external drive? As it is now it is transferring at like 16KB/s

Not really. If it's damaged, it's going that slow for a reason.

No, there is no way to speed that up. The drive is dying.

The best solution would be to ditch the drive, and recover from the backup you made before this happened.
