Anyone ever had this happen?

I installed a free version of AOL 7.0 onto one of my machines for Dial up access. Ever since I can't play BF1942. It starts to load, screen goes black like normal, then goes back to the desktop and I hear the "idiot ding," a window pops up fo about 1 millisecond and disapears.

So needless to say I don't know what it is that caused it but I hate AOL and their software. You think they could write better software.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation and been able to resolve it?

(AOL tech guys are terrible... I don't have an IT degree and I could do thier job. No offense to those if you thet work for AOL.)

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!

Okay now that all of the laughing has ceased.

For my wife.

She is staying home now that our daughter Logan was born. With her staying home there is one less income and one less broadband connection. So I needed something to let her surf the net with. 10 hours per month with Net"AOL-Juno"Zero isn't enough so I was going to use the freebies that I always get until they run out and then if I had too us my father's family account that he has through AOL.

Basically I hate AOL. But when there is no $$$, people including myself do stupid things. (Like installing AOL)

I've always wanted to run into you out here in postsville, a fellow Christian, I hope you and your family are doing well, I think the main problem with AOLs software, is it seems to always be doing something in the background, I ran across another free ISP the other day, I'll get the URL for you and post back, I didn't check into it too deeply, so I don't know the limitations, but I will when I post back.

One time setup fee of $19.95 for 1 email address, if additional addresses are required its $19.95 setup for each additional address, then completely free access, couldn't find a cap on internet use, but you're allowed 20Mb email storage, keep it cleaned out and that shouldn't be a problem, runs with an advertising bar at the top of the browser.

I´ll tell you a story. I live in Argentina and about 2 years ago AOL tried to make its move into the ISP market by giving away over 2 million 30-day trials CD.
It´s needless to say that after the 30 days, you either subscribe or uninstall the AOL soft.
The funny thing is that the uninstalling process screwed up the TCP/IP protocol. So...no more Internet available.
Of course, it´s an easy fix for someone who knows how to install a protocol. But lets face it, most of the 2000000 people that tried OAL don´t have a clue about that.
