Anyone replaced a CPU???

I have Toshiba EQUIUM A200 Laptop I want to upgrade

I want to replace the processor which is currently:

Intel Socket P T2080 @ 1.73 Ghz

Any idea of a suitable replacement?

PS: I have swapped out the HDD for SSD which has been superb improvement on start up

I could be mistaken but from a look at the processors in the T2000 line (such as the T2130) there won't be much of a speed boost (1.73 GHz to 1.86 GHz) in that processor line - http/ark.intel.com/products/30769/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2130-1M-Cache-1_86-GHz-533-MHz-FSB
The other processors in the Socket P family (T3000 and T4000 series) have different Front Side Bus Speeds (677 MHz and 800 MHz compared to the 533 MHz for your current processor). You would have to make sure the motherboard and BIOS would support a newer processor. I recomend checking to see if there is a BIOS update and seeing what it would support.

Actually this T2450 sounds like a better match

Socket P, 2GHz and matching 533MHz fsb

Comparison between the T2450 and the T2080. You might want to see what chipset your motherboard has to make sure it is compatible with the T2450 (945GM, 945GME, and 945PM Express Chipsets).
