[citation][nom]applegetsmelaid[/nom]Apple products do not suit the needs of many customers. I have been in support and sales of PCs for over a decade and since the surge in Apple's popularity in 2007, countless customers have come asking for a windows based machine because their Macbook did not have the software they needed. I advised them to run a Windows virtual machine in OSX but they barely know how to turn the thing on much less configure a VM. They just buy a machine with Windows preinstalled. They think a Mac is better because it is more expensive, plain and simple. They sound EXACTLY like the TV campaigns. This type of scenario has skyrocketed since the iPad came out. They buy an Ipad because they think it's "better than a laptop" and find out that you can't get any work done with it. Instead of admitting they were played by Apple, they come and ask me to configure a Windows based machine to actually get work done. Apple has alot of money because they appeal to those with alot of money, enough to buy an Apple product AND a Windows machine.[/citation]
The customers you speak of were ignorant to VM prior to even using a Mac. As to reasons they buy an Apple product is anyones guess. To assume that mac product are some how "toys" is really a simple conclusion base on predisposed preferences for a platform other than Apple. Apple being a "toy" (ipad in particular) is something of a misnomer. Doing a google search of ipad in corporate and you see many articles about the ipad being used in corporations around the world. Does this qualify as "work"? Are corporations ....the place where serious work gets done using toys? I don't think so......will you tell your insurance company I want a new doctor because he uses an ipad?

In other words, people getting an Apple product because of all the hype and then realizing it's not what they really wanted.

FYI: Apple isn't the only company making tablets. Besides, most of this work can't be done without one.

And I had enough experience with Mac OS X to understand it won't do for me. Same with iPad/iPhone. Most of the people who buy Apple didn't have that experience. I remember my mother being crazy about the iPod... after she got one and she learned that she cannot even load music onto in without iTunes and that it can't be charged without USB (no-no, 220V-mains-to-USB charger DOESN'T work with this bloody thing! Only a laptop/desktop USB port!) and that it doesn't excel in any particular area, so she went and got herself a Creative mp3. At least that works properly with Windows Explorer and uses AAA batteries 😀

So because you had a bad experience with Apple anyone who buys apple is a fool?
I have used windows for more than 13yrs and i can say I have more problem with windows than any mac i have ad for the last 7 yrs. everything from blue screens, viruses, dll hell, random freezing,...etc. And yet I have enough respect to know that its a persons preference to buy windows and continue to deal with its short comings without calling them fools.
You gripe about apple not being able to charge without usb is not just an apple limitaion. Zune, Sony and many others were the same way. And yes you can charge an ipod via 220.....you just needed to get the adapter.

That is, APPLE adapter! A generic adapter which powers any other USB appliance refused to work with iPod. Why is that? And if Zune and Sony also do that, great - I won't buy them, either, because it's all about choosing what you really need!

What I am saying is that in 90% of the cases people buy Apple without knowing whether they need it. In this case, my mother didn't, so she got screwed over, and so did a few of my friends who got MacBooks and figured they have no real advantage.

Read my posts CAREFULLY before judging what my opinion is.

About all those BSODs you're getting... still on Windows 2000? It's time to upgrade! Viruses exist for Mac as well, it's just that there aren't as many due to the smaller user base. If you're getting BSODs or random freezes with anything higher than XP SP2 - it's your hardware's fault, not Windows. DLL hell? Sorry, never had that, except on Vista.
