[citation][nom]Murissokah[/nom]It's funny how the other day a coworker was telling me about this new map app that would put google maps to shame. Now the CEO is apologizing for it. I guess tey could sell rocks and people would be more than willing to buy them.[/citation]

Yeah, I knew iOS6 Maps would be rough and Google has done a great job with their Maps and have refined it for years. But lets not forget iOS6 Maps is free. Not an excuse to suck but will improve just like Google Maps did over time. Sooner the better tho!!! lol

Now are you going to apologize about artificially inducing obsolescence in the previous generations by removing features the hardware could support?

Voice directions?
Panoramic photos?

wtf.

[citation][nom]cozalp[/nom]Steve Jobs never would have apologized. He would have blamed the customers for not using the app properly, which would have increased the sales of iphone 5 even further.[/citation]

I don't think Steve Jobs would have allowed it to the public yet. If it was this buggy, as google's' was also, he would have left it in R&D longer. That's why apple delays putting new technology in a lot of their stuff. They make sure it will work, and is worth using to start with. NFC is still too risky, and too new to bother adding a whole new chip to their phone. Sure you can add every option possible, but if you want the solid use like their products you wait tell some things mature before bothering so when you put yours out there, is top of the class right off. There are a TON of crap android phones, and in fact android just now started getting as pleasant to use as apple.

This was not a wise choice on apples part.

People bash apple, but their FIRST phone was solid and reputable not just something to compete with. It has been iOS that has even put apple back on the map for Computers. No matter what android says, Apple started this boom. So technically everybody else saw the potential, and copied them.

BTW, i use android :p

Don't worry it'll be fixed when you buy the new Iphone 5s next year. Unfortunately the old iphone 5 hardware doesn't support the new Siri2Maps. But more good news you get the new and improved Lightning2 connector, (lightning adapter not included).

The truth if he maps app if you think about it is that they can monitor where you are. remember how the iphone used to keep all your position data and everytime you connected to itunes it backedup/uploaded this data? well they needed that data and what better way than to have them force users to point out their current location everytime they access the maps app or everytime they use the integrated facebook. Its all about monitoring the hot/cold spots in their market I am sure....

Basically Apple is a company that since iphone 3G, releases a "new" (beta) product but for the sake of making it big, they anunce it with all the pantomime they can so when they sell it (at such high prices) and the users (Guinea Pig's like some one stated a few comments ago) buy it happily until they found those flaws, bug's and all apple just can say...sorry buy the next one in a year of so...it will be better.

I didn't hate apple until almost 2 or 3 years ago when they became such a trolls and i think of apple as the stereotipical guy that sell you something "fixed" or "broken" and then when you go all mad and angry to get a warranty or refound he just say: well if you want give a few more bucks and ill give you this "brand new" and "better" but deep down you know is the same bullshit.

I sincerily cannot wait the day i see all over the internet that some company (google or samsung even microsoft are my wet dreams about this) have bought Apple or that they are totally broke and will sell by pices the company.

Every iphone seems to come with beta software. Iphone 4S was come with "the big future" SIRI beta, now iPhone 5 comes with this new maps.

[citation][nom]Ragnar-Kon[/nom]I'm gonna have to give Tim Cook props on this one. Not only did he apologize, but he didn't bother sugar coating it, AND he pointed out several solutions customers can use that are honestly direct competitors with Apple.Very un-Apple like of him.[/citation]

Your post was very mature and well-said, up until the "un-Apple" bit. It would have been better had it been left mature and well-said, without the lowbrow swipe. Apple is not new to the Mea Culpa.

Like i care what some CEO says. The guy probably didnt have a clue about the problem till he read about it in the paper, while still making millions.

Well, as an Apple Fanboy (but only on account of my music storage space) I must say I'm sadly disappointed at this sad, botched and lunatic example of the latest incarnation of the iphone.
ios 6 is complete pap together with the 'maps' app as they call it!
To do away with the giant Google is in itself complete lunacy and perhaps down to delusions of grandeur. I for one will now transfer back to Android and unload this crappy phone ASAP.
