Apple earphones not working with PC?

So my Apple earphones aren't working with my PC.

I'm using a splitter, yes. The audio is fine, but the mic seemingly doesn't work at all.
I tested a pair of Sony earphones and they worked fine.

Is there something I'm missing?

By "using splitter" do you mean you are using a dedicated TRSS to TRS (two TRS) adapter or that you are using a regular audio splitter? If you're not using a dedicated TRSS to TRS converter cable, that's your issue.

The box it came in doesn't specify, all it says is "Headset converter Mobile > PC single to dual connector"

I assume that's what I should be using? Considering the Sony earphones work correctly.
