Who cares? FaceTime is only useful if everyone you know uses Apple products. There are much better alternatives that work across all devices.

I don't see how Apple can patent this. At work we use the enterprise Microsoft product Lync, which we have been using for years to share screens with the person you are on the video call with. We can even share with a group of people. Useful across offices in multiple locations. Lync even works on my iPhone, which i use when i'm working from home.

BBM already has screen sharing function ever since the BB10 OS was introduced.
