[citation][nom]Hanin33[/nom]uh... hello, McFly... you buy another car that doesn't have the restrictions you dislike... there are many many other phones that do what everyone seems to want to do with them... buy one of those... the same holds true in cars... so your analogy holds no water...[/citation]

That is seriously your argument? If someone is selling a product, I have a right to purchase it. Due to the fact that I am giving them money for their product, that means that I own that product that at time. Since I own the product(not the copyright for the product, just the item I purchased), I can do whatever I wish with the product.

Of course, I would not expect an idiot such as yourself to understand this.

thats BS! apple could solve the problem anyway, by opening up the phone more and negating the need for jailbreaking, while still protecting the data transmission functionallity.

furthermore, what stops hackers making there own phone and hacking the cell network?? they just need to make the network more secure, so F U apple, we know its all about money, heres hoping the courts do too,

adding modified software to hardware that we owns isnt illegal. we bought the hardware. we can do whatever we want with it. if i want to turn my iphone into a toaster and install a toaster operating system, thats my business. (lol terrible example.)

using software of any kind to maliciously attack a companies network, or to circumvent securities in place is already illegal.

apple is asking people to give up their rights because some people might break the law with it.

next lets make the internet illegal because some people distribute child pornography through it. see what im saying?

As much as i like iphone. I hate apple policies and actions 10times more... I wish other companies sooner produce big screen mobile phones... so i could giveup my iphone... i hate it's control

Anyways, I think apple is abusing its powers of believing that everyone likes their products... this will be played against them in near future

Sounds like Apple is spinning rubbish to keep people under their control

[citation][nom]neon neophyte[/nom]next lets make the internet illegal because some people distribute child pornography through it. see what im saying?[/citation]

lol, don't say that too loudly, thats what they are basically doing here in Australia...

OK, it's not suggesting that jailbreaking a phone will crash the tower, it's trying to suggest that a person who jailbreaks a phone may also decide to intentionally crash a tower with their jailbroken phone... What's the point of this article? Equating those dirty jail-breakers with all of the other boogie-men they wave in front of us?

There's a fully open source mobile phone , the Neo FreeRunner ( Open Moko Project ) and I don't see that being used to hack into GSM networks.
Heck I even saw a guy working on open source code for the baseband CPU of a Motorola phone.
The only problem with jailbraking is that it's costing Apple money. Other then that it's not really hurting anyone other than Apple's pockets.

Yeah, let's just make random excuses so we can force carriers to do our bidding if they want the iPhone. We can't let you hooligans go buying an iPhone and using it on whatever network you want. We have to approve it first you cell phone tower crashing misfits.

You really think they care about "security" or the fact they're trying to push legislation that would make jail breaking iphones illegal.
