Looks like Apple's Ping timed out to the point that the company feels the need to move on, and is killing the failed social network with the next release of iTunes.

i would like a social network without all the crap that facebook is.
google+ had some potential, but its a slow burn and no one really uses the features in a way that i was hoping for.
