Apple relies on the American obsession with 'elitism' to maintain their absurd pricing structure. Though, obviously, it works for them.

[citation][nom]tipoo[/nom]hmm, the aluminum macbook for 1000 would be a good sell.[/citation]

I hope they don't eventually make one with anodized 7075-T6 alloy the way Colt does on M16 receiver. If that happens, I will get one no matter the price, then run Windows 7 on it.

Am I the only one not interested in paying $1000 more than the parts are worth, for a sub-par Operating System that isn't any better than one I can get for free.

Lol 100$ on a 1000$ Macbook it's only a 10% reduction. Wouldn'T even cover de taxes here and it's still pricer that a PC laptop with the same hardware.

OK, so it's kind of understandable sometimes why someone would want to get OSX over Vista or XP, these are usually people who want a sleek operating system that is extremely simple and straight forward to use.... but there are plenty of much better free Linux distros out there that are free, that you can install on any computer.
