I guess they've stolen five iPods, two iPads and one MacBook Pro totally worth = 24,000

How much free publicity can $24k buy you? Did Job find a new marketing gimmick before others did? What's next? Lost n Found iPhone, stolen Apples... What about an OC UR Mac until it dies, like Intel is doning?..

Its not too hard to block cellphone radios, so if they used a cellular modem as the alarm line, that can be blocked.

You don't hang an "iphone" up to an alarm line, you use a proper business Cellular data device.

I'm surprised they didn't have a proper security company for the Apple stores, one that is monitored if communications are cut, sends the cops out to see what happened. Or have a redundant link.

Maybe they used an iPhone 4G & it lost it's reception "plus" 24K! ;-)

[citation][nom]lassik[/nom]That's about 4 Macbooks then..[/citation]
oh i was gona say 3 ipads

they should have torched the place before they left and done a dump in the staff bogs, i would have, and i'd have rooted around in the staff fridge for something tasty.

Why wont they ever give a comprehensive list of items stolen in stories like this? Thats what I always am interested in. I dont care what its total worth was, I wanted to know what and how much they took

I was going to say 2 iMacs but you beat me to the idea ;-)

I feel sorry for the thieves. I'm sure apple has already sent their squad of apple SEALs out to catch them

A team of lawyers or a team of spammers? Either one would cost them 4 times more just to send, but they'd have to find them first! ;-)

These guys only took one Mac Pro worth? What the hell were they doing, dancing?

I'm just laughing at everyone that's saying "so that's like a few macbooks right?" just haha, that is great.
And Apple, you're guarding it wrong. Witty comment credit to icepick314.

What idiot store manager forgot to pay the alarm company bill???
The cops weren't called there, they just noticed the broken glass and alarams going off... Newbs.

[citation][nom]Azimuth01[/nom]The police were "driving by and noticed" that the store was broken into? This is apple for crying out loud....your telling me that the apple store security systems are not tied into a central service to let local authorizes know when an alarm is going off?[/citation]
Thats because Apple believes its own propaganda about their systems being so secure.

rajangel :
They should have an inventory sheet. Find what was stolen. Can't they trace the mac address? If they ever access the internet. Shazaam. Right?

The mac adress is so simple to change that anyone with even basic computerskills can do it, its like having a ID where you can put in any data you want as long as it keeps the base format

umm no, people with basic computer skills can't change the MAC address... any nerd can...

...a nerd can do it, not a mere mortal.
