apple tv compatability

Is my Samsung HDTV 1080i compatible with Apple TV? I notice the TV does not have an HDMI input and I obtained a composite HDMI / RCA cable and still no connection that I can tell. Any suggestions?

A cable will not convert HDMI to composite video. You would need something like this
