Just bought a TCL 50s423 4K TV. There is a hybrid3.5mm 'headphone ' jack out that I can connect to my old Onkyo receiver. Problem is, when connected, it muted the TV speakers. There is no over ride in the TCL manual to stop the TV speaker mute.
I want to be able to use the TV speakers (on 'speech ' setting) AND run audio to my receiver at the same time (receiver speakers provide theatre bass) and to my headphones. I was able to do this with old Viseo TV, it had RCA audio out slots.
note that there is an ARC HDMI connection on the new TV TV, but I am using that HDMI slot.
Question: is there a way to use the open ARC next to the HDMI slot to connect with RCA Jack's to my receiver and headphones? Maybe a converter? If there is a converter, will this work as I desire.
I believe the root issue I have is the cheaping of manufacturing, it cost more and takes more space if they used RCA audio out ports, so instead they put in single 3.5 Jack.
