Greetings Mechailswagger,
I bought a Y50-70 about three weeks ago and it is a very capable gaming machine and extremely powerful office/everyday computer. My specs:
15.6" TN screen
Intel i7-4710HQ Haswell quad-core @ 2.50 GHz
1 GB Intel HD Graphics 4600 integrated video card
16 GB DDR3 memory
256 GB SSD hard disk
4 GB nVidia GeForce GTX 860M dedicated video card
Good things: It's weighs about 2.3 kilograms with a very slim and attractive design. The area around the full-size keyboard is rubberized and feels very nice. The machine itself radiates high-end build quality with a solid feel to it and it's very quiet. The standard TN screen is slightly above average.
Not-so-good things: The standard TN screen has limited viewing angles, and the standard laptop camera is pretty pathetic. I know from reviews that with an IPS touch screen, viewing angles improve but glare increases radically. The keyboard isn't designed for gaming.
I'm not a hard-core gamer myself, but I do enjoy complex strategy games and occasionally join in MMOGs. The Y50 does the job, but I know from others that e.g. Shadow of Mordor is out of range. On the other hand, it's absolutely second to none with everyday multi-tasking: Running several browser sessions with YouTube, music apps and 3 or 4 office programs all at the same time is no problem at all - it barely registers in noise or heat. And that's the reason I bought it.
Expecting the Y50 to handle games that haven't been created yet is a tall order - in my opinion also an unrealistic demand on any similarly priced laptop today. If that's your criterion, you're looking at e.g. a top-of-the-range MSI or a custom-built rig. And that's a completely different price range.
I would warmly recommend the Y50-70 to everyone I know.
Cheers,
GreyCatz.
