Hello,
I am interested in buying 2 laptops, one for my husband, a school teacher, plays very little game.
the 2nd one for my son, starting college this coming january, also plays very little game. I dont want to spend more than 1k. Are these 2 laptops below good?. If no, which do you reccomend?
Dell inspiron 15R 15.6 laptop w/intel core i7, 8GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, window 8 for $599 0n black friday.

HP sleekbook 14inch w/intel core i5, 6GB, 500GB, FOR $399, ALSO ON BLACKFRIDAY.

Yes. These are both good laptops for basic use. Although the Dell Inspiron 15R is a lot better, I think you should settle for spending $200 more, and buy two of them.
It's great value for money, especially with Dell, as their customer service is really good.

For casual use (e.g. web browsing, word processing, skype and 2D games, etc), get the HP sleekbook. There is no benefit to go for an i7. Save yourself $200 for your next laptop.

If you need to do audio/video transcoding and editing, 3D modelling, simulation and 3D games, then you may need i7 as well as a dedicated GPU.
