"Assange is currently awaiting extraction from England to Sweden on sexual assault charges. To see his full interview, check out the streaming video"

Assange is awaiting the outcome of an appeal hearing due to begin July 12th after the decision was made in February 2011 to extradite him to Sweden for questioning in relation to a sexual assault allegation. He remains in the UK on bail. There is a significant difference in extradition with regard to allegations and extradition after being charged with an offense.

How sloppy does the writing on this site get, check your facts before printing, please?

You know, so what? Every major phone company around the world has an interface for (any) law enforcement to access their phones usage records and billing systems. Why do you think you have to prove who you are to get a fixed phone or sim card?

This sort of access has been around for decades, facebook is just another one of these. How hard do you think is it for an agency to already match call data/internet data records with names and addresses and build a real "comprehensive database about people, their relationships, their names, their addresses" You dont have to be on facebook to be watched.

You know...no one put a gun to anyone's head and forced him to join Facebook. Further, no one put a gun to anyone's head and forced him to disclose information about himself. There is not such thing as privacy on the internet, just like you can't expect privacy in a public place. You want privacy, stay PRIVATE!

hahaha Assange broght out the true about what America shouldnt be doing abusing other ppl rights and do not respect them... the government has a responsability here no Assange to keep our rights intact but instead they abuse and overabuse because they can ... this is not america anymore this is Corruption Incorporated of the United States ... keep the hard work Assange ...a lot government ass-holes here commenting and trying to keep us from the truth... this system is collapsing more and more everyday and if the corruption doesnt end will destroy every single right we had for granted ... Capitalism = Republicans that dont care nothing more than the Capital and if they can take every piece of freedom you have left they will sending you to economic wars instead of preserving our lives and not changing the murderer economic-political agenda..

I agree that its a spying machine, but the fact that he tries to connect everything to the US government really irks me at times and sounds like a joke at times. Its like he's got tunnel vision.

No, I'm not an American citizen, before the replies come in.

A couple of years ago I learned that any data that passes by a server on US soil is considered to be from the USA, subject to export restrictions of the USA and also subject to whatever their intelligence operations are allowed to look into.

Might be a bit fishy if you try to send a mail to cuba via hotmail but I guess Microsoft has managed to get around that... 😉 But anyhow, everytime you put in personal information on a site where the server is located in the US (or some data is temporarliy saved on said server before going somewhere else) you freely hand over the ownership of that data to the US goverment.

I love how some people are so naive and trustworthy of big corporations. When I was considering signing up for a Facebook account I did some research and landed on the same point as Assange. That Facebook is 1) a company so it obviously can't be trusted 2) all they're doing is creating a huge database of my life (ugh!) and 3) if the service was to be hacked it's all over. Tajikistan now has enough information to predict my next move. Besides if I was to get a Facebook what would I do anyway? Poke people? Talk about me all day like I'm something special? Play Farmville? If someone asked you to go to a random website and give every personal detail about your life to a questionaire would you do it? Heck no, and all of these people who think the PSN breach was bad, just think of how bad it would be if the Russians had extremely detailed information on the entire population of the U.S.
