Question Asus G501jw strange Ram issue

I have an Asus G501JW that the motherboard died so I bought a replacement off eBay.

Well the first replacement was dead so got another one (after refund).

The second board worked but only shows 4gb of ram (soldered) and nothing else. I tried 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, and 8gb sticks. Both DDR3 and DDR3L. None are detected. Thought I may be going mad so tested them in a Dell I have and the sticks work.

So back goes the board.

I have now tried 6 boards. Different versions. And nothing.

They all show 4gb of ram and don't see any of the sticks in the single slot. All I want is to get this laptop to 12gb (heck I'll take 8gb at this point).

Anyone got any ideas? A gaming laptop with only 4gb of ram is next to useless.

Thanks

Thanks for replying. I've tried upgrading to the latest bios. Downgraded we to various other versions and nothing changes. I'm very confused.

This isn't the first laptop I have repaired. Just not fair why it's doing this.

I suspect you have incompatible RAM. Was this removed from the old machine? And the new MB is identical? Is the BIOS up to date?

I'm not sure buying motherboards for E-Bay is a good idea. Have you tried buying one from ASUS?

Are you using good anti-static (ESD) procedures. Handling RAMs is a good way to blow them out.
