I am having a problem with my laptop sound. The problem I am having is that when it is the bios my speakers work. When it is in windows they don't. When I plug my headphoness in they work in windows and in bios. It is only when in windows that my speakers do not work. I have tried re-installing the drivers and taking drivers off. I have also tried a fresh install of windows 8 and 7 and nothing seems to work. I am out of ideals and google and was wondering if anybody has this problem.

Is it old or new ? If it's new (under warranty) send it back and hope they can fix it. In worst cases, buy a little usb sound card. They are only 2-3$ and they offer better sound quality.

Did you check to be sure your speakers are turned up? Yes, it is different than the headphones in the audio sliders.
