Solved! ASUS GU501GM battery stuck at 50% and dies when unplugged?

Been experiencing this problem starting today and was wondering if this could be an issue with my battery or something else.

If you're running a Windows system go into Control Panel>Device Manager and uninstall the two entries about the battery. Sometimes, the Microsoft entry causes confusion.

Restart the machine and the entries will have been installed but if the battery still fails, you need a new one.
