I put a solid state drive into the ASUS K61IC laptop and it's great but can I put more than 4 GB RAM into the two slots? I don't mind replacing the originals as long as the laptop is stable. My OS is Windows 7 64 bit.
The maximum amount of RAM supported, that you can install, is 6GB. So yes, you can have more than 4GB of RAM installed (1 4GB stick and 1 2GB stick). Both sticks should be from the same manufacturer and have the same specs.
The MAX on a K-series laptop would be 8GB. You can add up to 8Gb but make sure they are the same brand, specs, speed, ect. Also check the the vendor to make sure it's compatible. Most vendor websites will have a compatibility checker.
