Asus laptop only works when plugged in with the battery out

Hello Everyone,

I have an odd problem. My Asus laptop only works when I take out the battery completely and plug it in. If I try to replace the battery after I plug in the laptop, the laptop goes dead. If I try to turn it on with the battery in place and while I have it plugged, there is nothing.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I would think that the battery is dead and is effectively shorting out.

Change the battery already....Its definitely the battery.

i have this problem. i play games without the battery on for like 20 hours ( not playing straight though) and when i put the battery back on.the computer wont recognize it..any help?
