Asus X555U Disk Swap

Has anyone successfully accessed the disk on this model laptop? I think the keyboard has to come off, but I haven't been successful.

These laptops are getting SO thin that they can't make them easy to do anything with. The last two I had (from 4 or 5 years ago) had neat/convenient panels specifically for accessing the hard drive ...

tell me about it. I just finished last week replacing a customer's hard drive in a normal thickness asus laptop. can't work on the apple thinline laptops as drive & ram is now part of the motherboard.

I haven't had the time to test the link you provided. I am going to give you the solution so that this can close. If it isn't right I will try again in a month or so. This is too new a laptop to have any how-to articles out in the wild.
