ASUS Zenbook UX301L / Stuck in Aptio

My boss' laptop suddenly won't boot to Windows. I called ASUS customer service and they suggested I send it in for HD replacement. The boss is definitely not happy with losing all his data. I attached an image of a screen right before laptop enters APTIO. <a href="http/imgur.com/QOZojTg">

Any suggestions on how I can get Windows to load again?

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try but definitely it's the HDD if you've done most of the troubleshooting with Asus Support.
- Start by disconnecting other devices connected to that laptop.
- Next is to load Aptio Setup screen and make sure that the HDD is set as the first boot device.
- If these will not work try loading BIOS into its default by pressing F9 while your in Aptio setup screen.
- Lastly, remove the HDD off the laptop and see if it will get pass the Aptio setup screen because if it does that confirms that its the HDD that is faulty.

Thanks Nerd. Would using USB recovery do the trick to get back to a previous state?
