Audio receiver doesn't connect to TV

I have a Denon AV surround receiver AVR-2310CI and it has an HDMI cord to connect to the TV. The receiver is connected to TV but they do not acknowledge they each other. The TV is a sony. I dont know what model. Its a somewhat new flat screen. I have used several different hdmi cords and all the different ports but nothing seems to work. The speakers do work and the V.AUX setting with the headphone jack does work on the Denon so its just the TV. Thoughts?

If you are trying to get audio from the TV into the receiver I think you will need an optical audio connection since it doesn't look like the receiver has ARC (audio return channel). If it does then you need to make sure it is connected to the ARC labeled HDMI input on the TV and that ARC is turned on in both.
If you have your sources connected directly to the receiver via HDMI and the receiver to the TV with HDMI then can you get the receiver set up menus to come on the Sony? If so go through receiver setup and make sure that the HDMI inputs are assigned and set correctly.
If not then try a different video output on the receiver. Maybe the HDMI is turned off.
