Your pitting entry level AKG's vs gaming headsets that are 2-3 times more expensive. Not a very fair comparison to say the least. Audio quality wise, you aren't going to see a big difference between the AKGs and the expensive Steelseries siberia V2.
If you game in a quite environment and don't want to spend allot of money, these are the best bang for your buck

If you need a mic you have a wide array of choices. You could either purchase a mod mic (or similar) or you can get a condenser mic. Something like the Blue Snowball will beat any boom mic on any gaming headset. The great part about it is you put it on your desk, away from yourself. It's really nice if you don't want something dangling in front of your face. They are around the same price as a ModMic.
