My sister was using my Nikon D3300 and "accidentally" rotated the focus ring of my Nikon 55-200 DX while it was set on AF. Im pretty sure I heard a noisy "clack" and now the aoutofocus wont work anymore; It doesnt even try to focus (you can hear a tiny noise but not a "focusing" noise).

Specific lens: Nikon 55-200mm 1:4-5.6G ED AFS DX VR

Any advice?

I assume you have other lenses with which to make sure the camera is ok?
If so your lens is sounding like it is broken. The cost of that lens while expensive compared to a nice pair of shoes is quite cheap compared to other optics. The cost of repairs make it probably not worth the repair costs.

You can get a used one in great condition for less than $80...

Rotating the focus ring should not change your ability to AF. I do it all the time. I would confirm that the camera is still set to AF. It is a small toggle on the lower right hand side if you are viewing the camera from the front.

You can get a model up for under $200.

Sorry, but with a replacement cost of $80 and with your settings being correct, it is just not worth the shop fee.
