AVG Resident Shield Service High Disk Usage

Is it normal for AVG Resident Shield Service to always be running with VERY HIGH disk usage?

No, it isn't normal. Could you download and install Sysinternals, use its 'Process Explorer', and paste a screenshot of what's running? Could you also download HijackThis and share what it reports? Doing so would be quite helpful to me/us in diagnosing the problem.
