Bad laptop performanc

My laptop is almost 3 years old and lately I haven't been able to run most games at a decent fps, I'm not talking about new games, even games I used to run at acceptable settings back when i bought this laptop barely run at horrible fps. Is there anything I can do to improve this? Or is the laptop just worn out?

I've tried a clean windows installation and I have the correct up to date drivers. I've also noticed that it's mostly my GPU bottlenecking the performance I believe my CPU still runs at the max speed as before.

Also there's this thing where my laptop shuts down suddenly If i have memory demanding applications on, does that mean my RAM is faulty?

Components don't really degrade, other than the mechanical ones. It sounds like a thermal issue, including the auto-shutdown. When's the last time you cleaned the fans and heatsinks?

I cleaned everything a few days ago, I also replaced the thermal paste but it hasn't gotten any better

What are your temps when trying to game?

Your dedicated graphics or CPU could be on its last leg. Sometimes electronic failures are sudden, other times they're not very cut and dry.

Well, playing something a little demanding gives me over 80 Celsius degrees maybe even 88 on both CPU and GPU.
I reapplied thermal paste but the temps are still horrible while gaming but as soon as i stop the temps go down instantly.
I was able to play this game at decent graphics smoothly like 3 days ago but starting like yesterday It's running at like 40-50 fps on lowest settings.
