bad sectors

I have a RTV 4532 which recorded a show with lots of pixelezation,
pretty clearly bad sectors on the hard drive. I've been afraid to
delete the show, worrying that those bad sectors will get reused. Or
is RTV smart enough to recognize and avoid bad sectors once they've
been identified? And have they been identified when they were read?

This happened a while back and no new recordings have had the problem.

Many thanks.

Just a thought here... sometimes shows are delivered with pretty bad
pixelization. Until recently our local CBS had a particularly bad time
with the David Letterman show. Seems to be fixed now but don't rule out
bad source programming.
