Battery not charging

The battery on my laptop (ASUS X751L) is plugged in and it's acknowledging that there is a power source by saying "Plugged In, Charging" but it isn't charging. Also, when I unplug the power cord my laptop turns off completely (no indicator lights are on). Is there a way to fix this problem on my own?

It sounds like the battery can no longer hold a charge (happens to all rechargeable batteries after a few years) so it needs replacing (or just continue to use your laptop off the mains supply if mobility isn't required).
