Hello, I am in the market for a new tv. I am new to the smart tv world so; I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area. I actually brought home a Sony 850D about 2 weeks ago but the Wi-Fi connection kept disconnecting even though every other wireless device in my house stayed connected with no problems. I returned the Sony and got an LG which looked and worked great except it did not support the WatchEspn app which is what I use all the time. So, I returned that one. Before my last trip to the local Best Buy, I contacted their support people while I was browsing their website and asked about a Samsung 6300 series and was assured the tv would support the WatchEspn app. So, I visited the store to look at this model. The salesman there said I would be unhappy with the performance of the tv because of “ghost imaging” during sports action. I asked if he could show me an example of this but, of course they did not have a way to do that. So, he tried to steer me to a higher 6500 model. Which of course was more expensive. Then , another salesman there told me I would be unhappy with all Samsung models because of the low 120,240 refresh rate. He then tried to steer me back to the Sony but this time to a 9000 series 65” which costs about the same as the Samsung 6500 75”.
I am so confused and frustrated by the whole experience I decided to take a step back and do some research. Which led me to Tom’s Guide.
So, after the long drawn out story this is my question. If I have a budget of $2500 or less and I want to buy a 75” smart tv. What are the best tvs that I should be considering?
I would appreciate any guidance you can offer.

Thanks

Since you liked the LG except for the lack of the ESPN app why not just add a Roku or other media streamer that has it. They all seem to. They you don't care about the wifi connection problems either since the TV won't be doing that.
Your budget means that a 65" will outperform any 75" TV Bigger is better but as you have been told the artifacts caused by cheap video processing will drive you crazy keeping up with fast motion on sports. The distortion is more noticeable the bigger than flat screen gets too.

Are "displays" even worth considering? I know they don't have tuners but, since I have Directv, I don't really need a tuner, Do I?
