Best Anti-Virus (great protection with minimal resources used)

I'm currently using Norton 360 and I think it runs too many processes and takes up more of my resources than I'd like. I've been researching for some alternatives and have found that Avast is light on the resources, free and is pretty effective. I have also heard very good things about BitDefender, but I don't know much about it.

Can anyone recommend any others or provide some insight on the ones I've mentioned?

Thank you Samsul. How demanding is it on resources. Norton currently takes up quite a bit of resources so that is one of my main concerns.
