"Device giftcards" such as these are a brilliant idea. Best Buy and Target can afford the higher costs of making such cards as the company will eventually (at least in theory) see that these cards are returned to them. If the cards never make it back, then the customer just paid $50 for a really crappy speaker or camera.

I hope that the cards will be recycled and reused by the retailers though. There's already enough electronic waste as it is.
