Wish i could afford the high cost monthly bill that comes with those phones all ways connected to the net. Only pay 15$ a month right now for my phone bill with net 10 and i don't even use all the minutes.

BBY has a no rebate policy: all rebates are done at the counter. None of the phones, tvs, anything (unless its a merchandise buy, like $50 to NFLshop.com or something) has a mail-in.

This phone still will not see the momentum as iPhone. Another Storm, Pre, Xperia, G1, F700, Juke, iphone killer wannabe.

It won't have 85,000 apps + thousands of jailbroke apps. (10,000)
It won't have 32GB of storage (16GB microSD)
It won't have thousands of accessories (iPod receiver stereo controls, plug and play car kits, alarm clocking docking, mobile stereo docking, wireless chargers, tv cables, etc)
It won't have 40,000,000 owners out of the gate (ipod Touch, iphone 2G/3G/3Gs users)
It won't have iTunes support and syncing.
It won't have as strong 3rd party app/game developer backing.
It won't have Walmart backing, Applestore backing, etc. (BB and Verizon only)
It won't have a tried and true OS. (Android 2.0)
It doesn't have tried and tested hardware. (Motorola is known for lockups and faulty phones/and or other electronics, plus adding physical keyboard brings other hardware issues...sliding, buttons, etc.)
It won't have Itunes video movie rentals (Not even VCast)
It won't have as smooth of an interface (Current Reviews)
It won't look as elegant, be well built, and is thick and clunky. (Personal opinion don't get upset Verizon fans. Plus not only my opinion http://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-10386430-71.html)
It won't be better than the next iphone itteration. Which will still be backward compat with by the 100,000+ apps.

I can't find it on Best Buy's website. How about a link?

"which is essentially the same as Verizon's online offering"

You can't pre-order it on Verizon's website either right now.

Who writes these articles? Could you post a link to both websites because I sure can't find it.

This is ridiculous, I hope Verizon gets there act together soon. The Touch pro 2 is out of stock and has been so for the last couple of weeks, and now you can't even pre-order the Droid. I'm a Tilt user and have enjoyed this little gem for the past 2 yrs. I'm a big fan of HTC and use WinMo for its business side. I've never been happy about any of the services that I've used in the past Sprint, and T-mobile. Verizon has always been a bit to expensive for me so AT&T fit the bill.

I can now get an employee discount through Verizon and am ready to jump ship, especially since AT&T abounded its HTC fan base over the IPhone. I'm even willing to entertain the idea of getting a Droid due to its promise of its business capabilities, exchange, etc. But I can't even do that due that to lack of availability! I must of upset some tech God!

Here are my responses for Rexoverbey. Feel free to correct me as I only began researching this Droid phone yesterday. Considering that I will never give up the sweet sweet coverage Verizon brings, this phone looks really exciting to me.

< rexoverbey >It won't have 85,000 apps + thousands of jailbroke apps. (10,000)
< My Response > There is no need to jailbreak the phone to install an app. 10,000 apps sounds like a good time to me. Personally, I will take the top 20 from TH and call it a day.

< rexoverbey >It won't have 40,000,000 owners out of the gate (ipod Touch, iphone 2G/3G/3Gs users)
< My Response > Verizon has 72.1 million customers. If Motorola can take 5-10% market share of the existing user base, they will be out of trouble.

You can buy the Touch Pro 2 in the store, you can order from their warehouss, that's how I got mine. It gets mailed to your house just the same only no shipping charge I believe.

For one expanding memory on the droid will cost $$$. Plus there is no 32GB microSD cards yet and upon release would be $100 easily. On top of that you could get a second microSD card but who wants to always be switching out? I did that with windows mobile and an older Motorola V3xx and hated it.

If they take 5% of apple's share I wouldn't call that a "iPhone Killer". Plus without Walmart support out of the gate I doubt it would steal that much sales.

Tried and true OS I still stand by that since an older version OS doesn't equal tried and true. Much like Windows 7 isn't tried and true just becuase there was previous versions of a Microsoft OS.

That last iteration of iphone brought more than just sms messaging. Iphone 3GS brough improved CPU, GPU, Video recording, more RAM, longer battery life, stereo bluetooth, plus over 100 other improvements through OS3.0.

My responses to this are:

90k apps are a gimic, not all are useful and most are rehashes of others.

So it doesn't have a dedicated 32Gb drive in it, however you can store 16+Gb with REMOVABLE STORAGE!

Who buys all those gadgets anyways, more like too much clutter. And besides the iPhone didn't have everything on release.

Sure they don't have 40 Million owners, however at least their few million owners will have 3G coverage just about anywhere, and it wont cost them over $100 for the basic plan. Oh and not to forget AT&T going to throttle down usage for iPhoners.

Who cares about iTunes... oh right people who buy apple stuff, there are plenty of other media outlets that give you more for your money and they cost less than .99 cents a song.

As for strong 3rd party developers, well at least with the Android you don't have to worry about having a better app get denyed because your first party developer is trying to do the same (ahem Google Voice). Also open source apps will be better because ANYBODY can tweak them, so no waiting for bug fixes from the developer.

Now not having Apple store backing (why would they back a competitor) or walmart backing may seem like a big deal to some people, however I'm pretty sure Verizon has pretty much stores everywhere. Almost as many if not more than Walmart.

No tried and true OS... Even the iPhone has bugs... However no one can be as perfect as Apple (I say that with complete condicending sarcasm)

As for faulty equipment meh no one is perfect here either, overheating batteries, screens easily cracked, oh did I meantion they are like glass, and I'm not describing Droid here... Many people prefer to have a bigger view of their screen vs having a keyboard take up half of it.

No iTunes movie rentals... wow it seems like you think Apple is everything and if other products don't support them then you are lost because that's all you buy. To get to the point it will have plenty of 3rd party services which are arguably better.

A smooth interface I agree with MountainFlip on this one as it is open to the owners interpretation.

As for thick and clunky, I prefer to have my phones to feel solid and not like i'm holding a thin glass egg. By the dimentions it really isn't that much bigger.

And finally better than the last iPhone iteration. Lets see it took them long enough to get MMS, copy paste, and countless other advances other phones have had for YEARS! So unless they put an HD radio (which would copy ZuneHD) or flash support, or flash for your camera... yeah lets see what "feature" they can cook up next.

90k apps are a gimmick yet the 10,000 on android are all useful?

Who buys the gadgets? Probably the same people who buy the gadget phones. I like docking my iphone and waking up to it. I like docking my phone to my car stereo and having the ability to change songs with my car stereo. Also I dock my phone on my home stereo and listen to mp3s. Plus I doubt Androids phone is going to get ipod controls in car stereo decks. On top of that I play videos/games on my tv with my phone also.

As for 3rd party apps getting denied most end up on Cydia anyway. BTW then most become free. Which most apps get approved anyway.

Who cares about itunes?... probably some of the 40,000,000+ users of ipod Touch/iphone, etc. Plus even if you do get your mp3 from other sources they can be added to your itunes library/syncing.

As for the removable storage it is not as fast as the built in storage of the iphone. Plus if you like constantly taking out microSD cards to get your mp3's that's cool.

Ya the iphone 2G has gotten updates for two years. That's a pretty cool concept a phone that never gets obsolete. As for the last itteration as I said before got more than just mms, copy paste, etc. It also got multiple hardware upgrades. CPU, GPU/VPU upgrades, memory upgrade, storage upgrade, battery upgrade, etc. There are still plenty of upgrades that could be made on both phones... OLED screen, 10MP camera (3 and 5 were done on smartphones a long time ago), HDMI output, I would like to see 1GHz plus Atom processor, improved multicore GPU like promised by the SGX, HD radio (ya I do want that too), more ram, etc. I do not want a physical keyboard that will wear out and IMO are hard to type on, and usually lettering wears off, most of the time have no autocorrect.

As for Verizon stores selling more than wal-mart I find that highly unlikely. Plus I didn't count AT&T stores in with Walmart,BB,Apple Stores earlier either.

I wouldn't call the iphone OS buggy at all. Trust me if it was 40,000,000 iphone OS users would be saying somehting about it. It's not like the BB storm which was rushed with a Buggy OS. We will have to wait till Android 2.0 proves itself.

Just to counter your argument, iWork and MobibleMe each have a $30 MIR when purchased with any Mac. Even when you buy them at Best Buy. The price paid at the register is the full price printed on the price tag ($99.99 for MobileME and $79.99 for iWork).

To say the iPhone is bug proof is false sure they've had 3 years to get it right, I highly doubt google would release an OS that is full of bugs.

As for gadgets most gadgets for phones are like most apps for phones very limited use. Now having a dock in for your car might be nice, however most cars now have auxilary jacks. But I don't have to worry about wires because I own a Ford with Sync.

As for storage, sure the onboard storage HD of the iPhone may be faster, but I have never had a bottleneck or been slowed down with a microSDHC card (unless you bough a really cheap one). Also the Droid can handle a 32Gb card (SD 2.0 compliant) so it matches the iphone for storage.

I'm not saying that there aren't many upgrades sure there are however they can't do half of the ones your talking about without having the thing cost a crap load. However my TP2 does have a keyboard (as my last phone did as well LV envy ) and it has autocorrect, probably one of the easiest phones to type on because it's layed out like an actual keyboard.

I wasn't comparing Verizon and Walmart sales I was comparing how many stores Verizon has vs walmart. (3 within a mile of eachother in my town).

The 40 million as you claim is nothing compared to the other few hundred millions who use other products.

Technically the older phones do become obsolete as soon as the newer models come out, (there is more than one meaning for Obsolete).

And I think the major thing that will make the Droid better is that it can be serviced by your Verizon staff. No finding an Applestore to get your phone serviced.

Yes we will have to see how everything plays out, Personally I think having a turn by turn gps navigation app built in for the phone is a definate plus not to meantion voice recognition for search.
