Best gaming OS and Antivirus?

I will have my computer complete in a few days and wondering what OS and antivirus would be the best for high end gaming.

My Specs:

Tower = NZXT Phantom 530
Power Supply = Corsair TX 750
Mother Board = AS Rock z77 xtreme4
Hard Drive = WD 1TB SATA
Hard Drive = Samsung 128GB SSD
CD-RW = Samsung
Memory = 16GB Crucial Ballistix
Processor = I7-4770K
Graphics Card = Diamond AMD Radeon HD 7970

I have access to windows 8.1 and Norton 360 from my old computer just wanna know what the professionals are doing and why. Thanks

OS is fine. I'm not up to date on AVs to know how lite Norton has become. I here it's better then what it was. As long as it's not scanning while you are gaming you should be fine.

Get Steam OS, which is even primarly directed at gaming.
