Question Best iOS for 6s / is it possible to copy iOS 12.4 from an Xs to a 6s

I am giving my old 6s to my Dad and want to make sure it’s reliable before doing so. It’s currently running iOS 11.something. The battery is at 84% battery capacity. I could replace the battery and then just update to the latest iOS but is there another option?

I’ve read that 6s runs better with the iOS 12.XXs, rather that iOS 11.xx

Q.1: is it possible for me to get 12.4 on my 6s if I upgrade the 6s to the latest iOS and then load a back up of my Xs currently on iOS 12.4?

Q2: Or should I just give the phone to my Dad with ios 11.xx

Q3. Is it worth just paying for a battery replacement and getting the last edit iOS13.xx

If concerned, replace the battery. However, I believe the current one will be fine for now.

Rolling back would make the phone more vulnerable to compromise.
