Hi I am looking for a laptop to do my emails and use excel and Microsoft and sort invoice files. Can anyone one reccomend one that's not slow and suitable for this I have a budget or up to £250/£300? Thanks in advance

Solution
The HP stream has only 2GB of RAM which is tolerable but on the slow side. It also only has a 32GB storage disk but it is a Solid State Drive which means it doesn't have a spinning disk running at 5,400 rpm all the time the machine is switched. You would definitely need external storage for that one.

The 14 refers to the diagonal measurement of the screen so 14". Most laptops start at 15.6" and netbooks have a 10" screen so you have an idea as to scale..

Also ... there is a bit of problem about Excel. There is using Excel and then there is USING EXCEL. It is a very sophisticated program which actually supports it's own programming language and very, very complex macros. I had a friend who used to use it to program games - strange as that may sound! It can also be used for very sophisticated statistical analysis (ANOVA, Analysis of Covariance, Multiple Regression, etc. etc). Needless to say ... to use excel for those types of things has different optimal system requirements than to use it to do more straightforward tasks like adding columns of numbers, finding averages etc.. What level of excel do you expect to be using ... more kinda like bookkeeping type tasks?

Oh ... another good thing to know would be is your budget just for the laptop? Does the price of 'Microsoft Office' have to come out of this budget or do you already have the software and you just need a laptop to install it into?
