I bought the Dell E15 a few days ago and I am just not impressed with it even though it comes decently reviewed as the best bang for you $$..

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-i5-8250U-GeForce-E5-576G-5762/dp/B075FLBJV7

Battery life, stuttering video playback/buffering, bulky & flimsy display, dismal webcam...

I am looking, particularly in hopes of catching a black friday deal or something for a device in the $700 range.

No gaming whatsoever, maybe play some Pokemon TCG Online(LOL),packet tracer..

looking for Min. 8GB RAM, i5 cpu, 1920x1080 display (pref. ips), SSD, 5-6 cell battery, ergonomical design.

Things that presently are outside of my budget our like the Dell Inspiron 15, Asus Zenbooks, ect.

The yoga 520/530 series is also around that price depending on what config you choose.

I was looking at those last night, i am leaning that way as of now.. still trying to see the variances in those as amazon has all these different flavors of essentially the same device model.

That one is also fine. I just suggested a 2in1 because it has wacom AES support making a lot of pens for it useable so if you ever wanted to use it for some notetaking, drawing,... it also had that function built in for you.

this is the 7000 series but going form 5000 to 7000 i really dont know if its justifiable to power extra without going through the specs.

The only difference which I can see is significant when comparing both is that the 7000 has a 4 core quad instead of 2 core w/ hyper threading like the later.

That dell doesn't seem to have active pen support so you lose one of the main points of a 2in1.

On paper it seems like your original suggestion for the 2 in 1would be a solid choice, I guess the question is in terms of battery I would assume that having touch capability would have less battery life than the non 2-1 but as long as it gets me a solid day of use I am alright with that.

Suprisingly the difference is minimal so much that it's not noticeable at all. All the laptops listed above can easily last 7+ hours on battery.

Slightly over budget but I decided to go with this:
