I'm about to upgrade to a new GSM phone/plan and can't decide between these
two -- OR something else you may suggest. I've been a long-time Nokia user
and have become accustom to their 'block' style but am considering the
clamshell design of these new units. Although I feel the Motorola is a well
known/respected name brand, is it too old of a unit? Is the LG a stronger
competitor as it's trying to get the same recognition by providing more
features at a lower INTRODUCTORY price?

I have issue paying $59.99 for the Moto when the LG is 1/2 that at $29.99.

Thoughts, suggestions, questions and comments... please !

I use the PROFILE, KEY LOCK, and phone-book on my Nokia and would consider
the camera on these a bonus -- although I don't really NEED it.

Personally, if I could only choose one, I would have to go with the Moto. It
has a lot more features with a much nicer build quality.

Bigger display
More talk time
Built in email client
Mini USB for charging and syncing w/PC

I'm personally waiting for the EDGE-enabled Motorola V551, which is due out
this month.

Personally (TDMA & GSM) I like Nokia phones best.

There is an old saying (pointing out by your note above) that you can always
buy better than Motorola but you just can't pay more!!! !

Personally, I don't like Motorola!

LOL. Some truth in the 2nd part, but I'd take issue with the 1st part,
because Motorola has made some very good phones (as well as some turkeys).

>Personally, I don't like Motorola!

Personally I think Motorola is a mixed bag, and in any event I'm looking
forward to the EDGE- and Bluetooth-enabled V551.

The production mode is currently in "turkey" mode on some models.

I hope we don't have to play the RMA game with that one.

I'd personally say current production is pretty good.

Why would we?

I've been using motorola phones since 92, and wouldn't have anything
else. While my friends have had other brands, they always complain of
this and that, poor sound quality, drop calls etc. I've had great
luck with Motorola phones, and the current one (V505) is top notch!

Try a 180 recently?

We've sent back 2 batches (different batch numbers) of 180s so far.
Tomorrow we're supposed to get the third batch. We'll see.

No, but I've been pretty impressed with a number of other models, including
the V400, V525, and RAZR V3.

I'm a long time Cingular customer, and I plan on upgrading my account
to an 850 minutes per month for 3 family plan phonelines.

My question is which phone to get. The "free" Samsung 427m or Lg1300?
Is the quality of the free phones that bad compared to the phones you
pay for? Pay the $29.99 for the Lg1400? Pay the $59.99 for the
Motorola V400? Others?

I want new...I want cool...I want flip. I want quality too. Camera,
caller id on outside...ya know the bells & whistles on the low end of
the free/cheap phones.

It's one of those ...well If I wait another month...the price will
drop or they might have different/better phones out there. With the
merger of ATT...that might bring better phones, (although I don't care
for ATT's refurb phones).

I'd appreciate your opinions.
thanks
Ken
