I am comparing these 2 laptops for the same price the I5 is on sale http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/acer-acer-aspire-e-17-3-laptop-black-intel-i5-7200u-1tb-hdd-12gb-ram-windows-10-e5-774g-582t/10497406.aspx?path=49b8e7d72493923e712730f2ae94b14ben02 - the amd is not on sale http://www.staples.ca/en/Acer-Aspire-E5-752G-T09S-17-3-Notebook-AMD-A10-8700P-1-80GHz-8GB-RAM-1TB-HDD-Windows-10-Home/product_1910675_2-CA_1_20001

Both are 17.3" screens (or should I goto 15.6) both run dedicated graphics the i5 is a dual core the amd is a quad core.

My last PC was a q6600 OC (with water cooling) to 3ghz with 2 gtx260 max cores in SLI with 4GB. Never filled the 500gb HD either. Motherboard bit the dust. I don't really game anymore other then some flash based games - world of warships, and maybe getting back to playing the old republic for the winter months. I am not as up to date as I once was on CPU's

On a side note, weight is not an issue as this is supposed to replace my desktop, the only time it will leave the house is when I take it with me on my boat. I do mostly just surf the net and do basic web design also. I have been surviving with my Tablet and using my wife's pc for heavier stuff.
