Black screen when turning on my Acer laptop

Turn on lap top all I get is black screen

What model of Acer? Check you haven't used the function keys to change it to a monitor output, not sure exactly for your laptop but on mine you hold the blue FN button and press one of the number keys with a symbol like a rectangle on it to switch between modes.

If it isn't that, does it seem like the computer is booting can you hear a windows startup sound all the lights are flashing normally?

Acer aspire E 15 ES1 571 C55x is the model blue light s on but nothing else
