It's not really fair to compare last year's Curve to this year's iPhone. And it's funny you ask which is better but your conclusion doesn't go there. I like that conclusion, but some of the content in the review speak to that initial division question and not the more objective conclusion.
Just FYI, it's not Safari that make web surfing better, it's the WebKit platform it rides ontop of;

That's what makes it so good, and good news to people looking for a Blackberry option is that the Thunder/Storm (9530) will have a WebKit based browser. In the meantime I would say download the Opera Mini Browser for Crackberry, it works OK, but definitely a little short of the the WebKit experience.
