Blank screen flashing cursor top left

Help! Lenovo ThinkPad i-5 Windows 7 Pro goes to first start up page with logos then to blank black page with white cursor flashing in top left corner. Have tried crlaltdelete, restarting several times tapping F11. Also took out battery. But can't manage to get past this blank page to do factory reset. And can't type anything on screen either. Any ideas anyone? Other than buy a new computer? Thanks!

Do you have the original boot media? If so you could attempt to do a repair install.

Otherwise consider taking the disk out and doing basic troubleshooting on it (chkdsk /f/r, for openers).

Or consider buying Windows 10 and just installing that.
